About The Unit:
Plant tissue culture is the isolation and growth of a cell, tissue, part, or organ of the plant in sterile conditions and placing it in a controlled medium of nutrition that contains major and minor elements and a source of sugars and sometimes some growth regulators such as auxins are added for the growth of roots or cytokines for the growth of the stem and hormones Which directs the plant to form a callus, which is a group of regular or irregular cells, and these cells are grown on nutritious and sterile environments inside transparent glass tubes and then placed in industrial environmental conditions ideal in terms of temperature, humidity, and light, in order to obtain a plant similar to the original parent plant in the genetic structure With large production quantities and short time.
Plant tissue culture is considered one of the most recent and important agricultural technologies in the world, which is based on the sciences and foundations of green biotechnology, which is considered one of the most famous advanced sciences recently used in the agricultural field. To advance agriculture and bring about an agricultural revolution at the global level to confront the natural changes resulting from climate change and water deficit, to bridge the food gap, to control famine in poor countries, and to preserve the ecological balance on the surface of the earth. Green biotechnology also plays an important role in reducing agricultural production costs and increasing production in quantity and quality in a few years of agricultural production. As well as preserving

germplasm, improving genetic structures, and producing crops and plants free of pathogens. As well as preserving the water rationing, which was not provided by previous traditional methods during the past centuries. Green biotechnology in our time is the modern refuge to meet the needs of the growing numbers of people at the global level due to their increasing numbers, which results in increased demand and the need to increase food in all countries of the world during the coming stages. Therefore, the Plant Tissue Cultivation Unit was established to contribute to the study, development, and consolidation of tissue culture technology in the development, development, and preservation of plant wealth on a scientific basis associated with green biotechnology, which aims to: Preserve plant genetic assets. Producing new plant hybrids that are resistant to the continuous climate changes, viral diseases, and water salinity. Induction of mutations that lead to benign genetic changes. To properly produce a botanical model to maximize productive benefit.
Vision of The Unit
The Plant Tissue Culture Unit is an expert and pioneering unit in plant tissue culture, based on modern agricultural biotechnologies, to maintain the genetic origins of plants. Maintaining the purity of the genotypes of the target plants for breeding, as well as developing new hybrids with productive characteristics distinct.
Mission of The Unit
The Plant Tissue Culture Unit, a distinguished unit in tissue culture and biotechnology, is highly efficient in applied research, support, and transformation research outputs to an agricultural product with high production efficiency ready for the target market. As well as transferring modern technologies and utilizing them in the fields of various fields such as agriculture, pharmacy, environment and industry at the level of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the neighboring countries. Preserving the genetic assets of plants and strategic crops, and the production of new hybrids to resist pests, viral diseases, changing climatic factors and water salinity, as well as obtaining on plants with high production efficiency. Working to perfect researchers, trainees, and young investors in tissue culture technology, how to create and manage tissue culture laboratories, and continuous job creation.
