About Algae Genetic Lab:

Algae science is the science concerned with the study of algae and their classification in terms of morphological, physiological, environmental, genetic, and biochemical aspects, in addition to the interest of science in the applications of biotechnology of algae. Algae are autotrophic, simple plants that lack vascular tissue and contain chlorophyll A, and have simple reproductive structures. Algae are also known as non-flowering, triple-forming plants, that is, they are not distinguished by roots, stems, or true leaves and adhere to any solid supports such as rocks and sandy bottoms. Algae have two primary functions which are to produce organic matter for the life and growth of other aquatic organisms. This is done by the process of photosynthesis, and the production of oxygen necessary for the breathing of aquatic organisms. It also plays a vital role in the self-purification of water. It has the ability to absorb heavy elements, organic and inorganic materials from the water through the phytoremediation technique. It also has a role in the production of biofuels and fertilization
Bio, a food source for humans and animals. Recently, scientists have sought to include it in clean energy sources (electrical energy).
Therefore, the algae laboratory is the basis for contributing to the study, definition, characterization, classification, and development of algae. The study, understand, improve, develop and purify the applications of biotechnology of algae and stimulate their productive outputs, depending on the genetic and microbiological sciences

Lab Vision

Algae genetics laboratory is a pioneering laboratory in the field of applied algal research through isolation, purification, classification, characterization, and preservation of algal strains, and the development and stimulation of their new productive outputs. As well as training in modern technologies, conducting applied scientific research, and transferring its outputs to agricultural industrial application

Lab Mission

The laboratory studies the problems and obstacles facing the agricultural sector and water resources. The lab studies algae strains, preserving them with high efficiency and developing their production efficiency. Advancing research on green and white biotechnology applications to participate in community and environmental development. Work on researchers ’mastery of modern and innovative biotechnologies for isolation, purification, classification, characterization, and conservation of algal strains, and stimulation, modification, and development of their production.
