About Microbial Genetics Lab:

Microbial genetics is concerned with the study and transmission of genetic traits in microorganisms. Microbial genetics plays a unique role in the development of the fields of molecular and cellular biology, as it enters into medical, agricultural, pharmaceutical, and food applications. Where vital genetic processes in microorganisms are similar to those in multicellular organisms. Microorganisms are characterized by a short growth period, can be easily cultured in a small area under controlled conditions, and have a relatively uncomplicated structure. Microorganisms (microbes) are ideally suited for combined genetic and biochemical studies and have been successful in providing information on the genetic code and regulating gene activity. The many applications of microbial genetics in medicine and the pharmaceutical industry have emerged from the fact that microbes are pathogens and producers of antibiotics. Use genetic studies to understand differences in pathogenic microbes and also to increase antibiotic production from other microbes.

Therefore, the microbial genetics laboratory was established to contribute to the study, development, and consolidation of microbial genetics in the study, understanding, definition, improvement, development, purification, classification, and characterization of microorganisms (microbes, whether beneficial or harmful), their conservation and development and stimulation of their production outputs depending on genetic and microbiological sciences.

Lab Vision

The Laboratory of Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry of Animal Resources is a distinguished and specialized laboratory for researching animal genetic sources, as well as for Microbial Genetics Laboratory A pioneering laboratory in the field of microbial research and microbial genetics to isolate, purify, classify, characterize and preserve microbial strains, and develop and stimulate new products. As well as training on modern technologies, conducting applied scientific research and transferring its outputs to agricultural industrial application. and conducting scientific research related to animal genetics.

Lab Mission

The lab works on studying the problems and obstacles facing the agricultural and veterinary sector in terms of microbial, by studying microbial strains (whether beneficial or harmful) and preserving them with high efficiency, and developing their production efficiency. Upgrading the research of genetic engineering applications to obtain improved and genetically engineered crops and animals with high production efficiency quantitatively And qualitatively, supporting different disciplines of common interest to support research, education, emerging industries, pharmaceutical, agricultural and environmental industries, and working on researchers’ mastery of modern and innovative biotechniques for isolation, purification, classification, characterization, and preservation of microbial strains and the activation, modification, and development of their production.
