About Plant Molecular Genetic Lab:
Plant genetic resources play an important and constantly growing role in global food security and economic development and support the ability of agriculture to meet challenges, whether environmental or economic. Plant genetic resources constitute agricultural biodiversity, because of their essential importance in intensifying agricultural production, which contributes to strengthening the sustainable development of the agricultural plant production sector to increase production capacity to the highest level with a large plant and crop diversity to bridge the food gap and provide food for humans and animals. Plant genetic resources provide genetic information about productive traits that can help in facing future challenges and problems, for example, climatic changes, lack of water resources, tolerance to salinity, drought, heat stress, and resistance to the most common diseases, through the production of new and updated plant breeds and hybrids. Plant genetic resources help characterize and conserve plants and improve breeding methods in plant farms. Therefore, the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry of Plant Genetic Resources was established to contribute to the study, development, and consolidation of plant genetics in the development, development, and preservation of plant wealth, depending on molecular genetics and biochemistry,

which aims to: Study the flow of genetic information within the biological system at the molecular level by studying Structure and function of genes, the study of expression and regulation of gene expression, study of important biological processes and pathways affecting the necessary biological functions, the study of the plant genome and its link to genetic changes that result in mutations or benign or not benign genetic changes. To properly understand the plant model to maximize the productive benefit and produce modern strains and hybrids with high production efficiency and resistance to environmental and pathological variables, as well as to preserve the genetic assets of plants.
Lab Vision
The Laboratory of Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry of Animal Resources is a leading specialized laboratory in the research of plant genetic resources, as well as in training and conducting scientific research related to the science of plant genetics.
Lab Mission
The laboratory contributes to advancing scientific research and harnessing it in the service and development of society, by adapting the techniques of molecular genetics and biochemistry of plant sources to help provide solutions to the problems and challenges facing the agricultural plant sector, increase production rates quantitatively and qualitatively, preserve diversity and genetic assets of plant sources and improve plant breeding programs.
