About fungal Genetic Lab:
Mycology is the science that studies the structure, classification, methods of feeding, and reproduction of different types of fungi and their economic importance. The fungi are divided into simple fungi in composition and microscopic reproduction, and the complex fungi in terms of their structure and fruiting bodies (large fungi) are seen with the naked eye. Man’s knowledge of fungi since ancient times is considered in the manufacture of bread and wine, and the study was initially limited to the large fungi that can be seen with the naked eye. Eukaryotic organisms follow a kingdom of their own called the kingdom of fungi and its fungal thallus does not contain roots, stems, or leaves, as is known in higher plants. These organisms vary in size, texture, nature of growth, and methods of reproduction. Fungi are considered non-autotrophs (heterotrophs). It does not contain chlorophyll and chloroplasts.
Fungi are model organisms that are important for solving genetic problems, due to their ease of cultivation, specific life cycle, and short generation period. Fungal genetics is concerned with the study of the genetic makeup and function of fungi. Genetic research has provided important information about genes, genetic mechanisms, metabolism, and the study of the physiology and evolution of fungi. The life cycle of fungi and cytotoxic traits are ideally suited to study genetics and molecular genetics. Fungi have only one set of chromosomes. This property is useful in studying mutations as an important technique for studying important biological processes. Researchers in the field of fungal genomics expect a huge revolution in the information that will not only affect the fields of medicine, agriculture, industry, and evolutionary science but will make mycology one of the most important fields in science.

Lab Vision
The Fungi Genetics Laboratory is a pioneering laboratory in the field of applied fungal research through isolation, purification, classification, characterization, and preservation of fungal strains, and the development and stimulation of their new productive outputs. As well as training in modern technologies, conducting applied scientific research, and transferring its outputs to agricultural industrial application.
Lab Mission
The laboratory works to study the problems and obstacles facing the agricultural sector in terms of soil degradation and low crop productivity. The laboratory works in research in the manufacture of biological fertilizers and pesticides. The laboratory studies the strains of fungi saves them with high efficiency and develops their production efficiency. Advancing research on green and white biotechnology applications to participate in community and environmental development. Work on researchers ’mastery of modern and innovative biotechnologies for isolation, purification, classification, characterization, and preservation of fungal strains, and activation, modification, and development of their production.
